WHAT IS ROSITA’S VOCAL TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM?

ROSITA’s Voice Teacher Training was created by Rosita  She is one of the leading teaching talents in today’s vocal community. It is designed for aspiring and experienced Voice Teachers seeking to perfect their craft. This course will equip Voice Teachers with all the tools they need for a successful professional Vocal Studio.
- Trainees will gain a masterful understanding of vocal pedagogy as it applies to singers of all levels, backgrounds, and musical styles from classical to contemporary.
- They will also have the opportunity to observe, study, and practice applying vocal technique in practical ways. Participants will develop a diagnostic ear and will learn to identify and address a variety of vocal technique issues.
- Participants will also obtain a very detailed and nuanced understanding of their own vocal technique.

Unlike several other Voice Teacher Training programs, what makes mine unique is that this Teacher Training is not a "method". Instead, a great multitude of different methods, techniques, and ideas from the world of vocal science and vocal pedagogy are explored. Teachers gain a comprehensive understanding of vocal pedagogy and learn a wide variety of technical, physical, and psychological strategies that have been used historically and in today’s modern vocal studios. No sound that a singer can make is considered "invalid". Participants will instead learn exactly how every sound is made and how to teach it and thus, give them unlimited resources and possibilities.

Participants are encouraged to view Voice Teaching as a craft and art form on its own. From this perspective, teachers learn to trust their teaching instincts and to "teach to the individual" rather than follow a system of methodical rules. The unique gifts and talents of every participant are cultivated and developed. The result is Voice Teachers who are confident in the accuracy of their information, trust their diagnostic ears, and emerge with creative strategies and endless potential to help any singer improve. In short, this training develops true artists of Voice Teaching.

Who should take the Voice Teacher Training program?

Many Voice Teacher Training participants are either those
- with performing careers looking to begin teaching alongside or in place of their performing careers.

- are those who have university degrees in music/voice, but still lack the understanding of exactly how vocal techniques and pedagogy can be applied practically to the needs of singers.

-others are those who are familiar with how vocal technique applies to some styles (i.e. classical and opera), but not to others (i.e. contemporary music). In addition, there are music directors who possess musical or conducting prowess, but lack understanding of vocal pedagogy.

- are singers who would like to deepen their craft by understanding their vocal technique on the level of experienced Voice Technicians.

TIME FRAMES

Time frames for the Voice Teacher Training vary slightly. Most 40-Hour trainings take place over a 12 WEEK PROGRAM. 40-Hour Trainings ( 3 hours a week 2 hour class 3 times a week 36 lessons in total) are toffered all year around!. For international and out-of-state students, often customized schedules can be arranged to meet time needs. However, please keep in mind that this course is extremely intensive and ideally should not be done "quickly". We have developed a variety of training options to meet students’ needs and do our best to work with the scheduling needs of students as much as possible.

LECTURE- In the lecture section, trainees will receive extremely thorough lectures on all aspects of the voice, vocal techniques, and vocal pedagogy. This includes Breathing, Anatomy, Laryngeal Studies, Vocal Science, Acoustics, Resonance, Posture and Alignment, Vocal Exercises, Vocal Styles, Phonetics, Singer Psychology, and much more. In this section of the course, trainees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the human voice. As the course covers virtually every single aspect of singing, vocal pedagogy, and Voice Teaching, trainees will have the opportunity to address any questions or confusions with regard to vocal pedagogy and will emerge with a masterful pedagogical understanding - both technical and practical.

TEACHING- The teaching section of the course is a practicum that gives participants hands-on teaching experience, but under the care and guidance of Rosita. Trainees will teach selected individuals from Rosita’s online and in the studio. With a wide array of vocal students, the teaching section is not any kind of exam, but rather a Master Class setting guided by Rosita. As the trainee practices teaching, live feedback and guidance will be offered with respect to developing a diagnostic ear and an understanding of how to instinctually and practically apply concepts of vocal pedagogy to live singers in the vocal studio.

PERSONAL STUDY- In the personal study section, participants will receive one-on-one Voice Lessons with Rosita at her In-home studio in Hollywood, CA or online. Some lessons will take place in a private lesson format and others will take place in a Master Class setting. Having a nuanced understanding of one’s own vocal technique is vital for helping others. Personal Study allows participants to see how concepts from the Voice Teacher Training apply to their own singing voices and vocal techniques.

OBSERVATION-  In the observation section, participants will observe vocal technique concepts applied to live singers at Rosita’s studio or online classes. Some observations take place in a true lesson observation format and other times in an interactive Master Class setting. The observations allow participants to see how vocal pedagogical concepts can be applied skillfully and practically to help singers make fast and tangible improvements. Rosita’s students represent an extremely vast array of styles, levels, backgrounds, nationalities, and interests, allowing for a rich, educational experience in diagnostic and practical pedagogy.
